Salvo 4: Black Is A Matter Of Taste

In 2004, four members of ā€˜Salvo’ began their education in photography at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. Theo van Dusseldorp, a master of the medium’s technical aspects, was their professor for several years. Although photography is traditionally considered a medium balancing art and technique, few publications explicitly show their mutual interaction. Here, the intimate relation that exists between art and technique, between advertisement and science, is articulated through a selection of the over 25,000 Polaroids Van Dusseldorp made between 1978 and 2001 as studies for his product photos. He recently gave them to ā€˜Salvo’, who were free to use them as they saw fit.

60 pages, 24 x 32 cm, softcover, Salvo.
