Osma Harvilahti – Ethiopia

Osma Harvilahti – Ethiopia

Libraryman's quarterly Seasons Series draws inspiration from Kim Ki-Duk’s seminal film Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter… and Spring in which different actors, for each season, play the same character who is abandoned on a lake next to a floating monastery. The film specifically focuses on the shifting nature of the seasons and its effects on the protagonist’s fosterage. The books take their lead from the film in that simple and profound ideas, human passions and spirituality can be perceived differently depending on the season. Every book in the series will focus on different subjects, showcasing the artist’s unique approach to photography.

Series 3 – based around autumn (fall) – features new works by Finnish photographer Osma HarvilahtiEthiopia, as the title suggests, presents photographs Harvilahti took on a two week trip to Ethiopia.

The images in this book were mostly taken from the same place – from a particular intersection under a bridge on the metro line in Meskel Square in the country's capital, Addis Ababa. Harvilahti's photographs show a city in a state of flux – full of life, colour and energy.
