Nick Haymes – Dancing on the Fault Line

Nick Haymes – Dancing on the Fault Line

An intimate portrait of friendship and metamorphosis taken over a decade and a half, Dancing on the Fault Line is centred around Love Bailey and her extended queer community. Equally an entertainer and activist, Bailey is based in Temecula – a notably conservative region of Southern California – where she founded the Savage Ranch, a desert-based safe house, residence, and gathering place for friends, family, and extended members of the LGBT+ community.

Presented in chronological order from 2010 to 2024, the book follows Bailey from California to New York and back as she traces her simultaneous journey of self awareness and discovery. Nick Haymes captures a wide circle of friends and lovers in situations that vacillate between flamboyant fantasy, the quotidian, and sobering reality. Beneath moments of provocation and extravagance, is a story of resilience and perseverance. Culminating in revealing the emotional and physical results of Bailey’s transition, Haymes’ sense of compassion and care is clear beneath it all. Nick Haymes was born in 1969 in Stratford-Upon-Avon, UK, and has spent several decades living in the USA. Dancing on the Fault Line is Nick Haymes’ second publication with Kodoji Press.

304 pages, 30 × 22.5 cm, hardcover, Kodoji Press (Baden).
