Darren Harvey-Regan - The Erratics
In geology, an erratic is characterized as a piece of rock that differs in size and variety from those native to its resting place, oftentimes having been moved by glaciers over large distances. When the glacier melts, the rock is left abandoned in a foreign location. Harvey-Regan’s eponymous series questions the medium of photography, originating in the artist’s desire to liberate himself of the weight of representational imagery: his yearning for abstraction. The result is born of months of meticulously photographing of rocks in his studio, concentrating on composition, geometry and line. Thanks to RVB Books (Paris).Â
