Berlin Transfer: Hybrid Modernities

Through a sensorial reading of Brazilian modernism to challenge the generic, if not austere, appeal of Berlin’s modernist housing complexes, this book intends to reveal new potentials for existing spaces. By applying strategies of extension, insertion, and reprogramming to these prevalent structures, it combines generic urban prototypes common to the post-war era in Europe with the untapped qualities of the visionary, utopian modernism demonstrated by its tropical counterparts in São Paulo.
